Backup solutions
No matter how reliable your hardware, disasters always happen. Hard disks fail, power spikes damage equipment, and fire can destroy years worth of data. Dead hardware can be replaced, but if your data is destroyed you can never get it back.
That's why we're now offering an effective backup solution. The Freecom DDS-5 DAT drive holds up to 72GB of data on a tape that can be used up to 100 times, on media physically small enough to be stored securely off-site.
What you get
- Freecom DDS-5 DAT drive
- Tekram DC-395UW UltraWide SCSI-3 controller
- 10 blank DDS-5 media
Compatibility
The DDS-5 backup system is compatible with all our unix servers. Tapes are written in standard Unix “tar” (
Tape
Archive) format, and can be read on any unix system.
The system is also compatible with Windows NT4/2000/2003 Server, although we cannot offer any technical support for Windows based servers.
Data recovery
For our managed unix server customers, we offer a data restore service to all users of the DDS-5 system. If your server is destroyed or rendered unusable, simply send us your most recent backup tape when ordering your replacement server. When we configure your replacement system, we will restore all your data to it.
Please note there is a charge for this service which should be covered by your Business Insurance.
Pricing
The DDS-5 system is available for £899, including installation and technical support (for unix servers).
