Windows 7 evaluation
We are pleased to announce that we have now received evaluation versions of Windows 7 from Microsoft, and will be testing these on various hardware combinations over the next few weeks.
After the disappointment that was Windows Vista, the new version of Windows, called simply Windows 7, promises to be "what Vista should have been". Our early impressions are very favourable. The biggest criticism of Vista was its slowness. Windows 7 on the other hand, at least the pre-release version which we have been trialling, seems to run faster than Windows XP, and is almost on a par with Windows 2000 for speed.
The new operating system will be officially released early next year, at which point we will be offering it as an option on all new systems. However, for those customers wishing to remain with Windows XP, we will continue to support this operating system for the forseeable future.
